It’s been a week since I’ve arrived on this land of ideal socialism, ridiculously priced goods, gorgeous blue skies (when it’s not raining), and strange English (It’s not the Queen’s English, it’s not American, it’s certainly not South African, what on earth IS THAT?!). So far so good I must say. I’m enjoying walking on the streets, as I have been for most of this year now, except the air is crisp and clean, and the streets are quiet and once again clean. I’m enjoying the feeling of being in a new place again and learning my way around the town. Being around old friends is always a wonderful feeling, and meeting new ones is always exciting.
Since my arrival I’ve been doing a bit of cooking. Main reason being it’s just much cheaper to eat at home than to go out to eat all the time as I have been in Asia mostly! Oh how I have missed cooking soooooo much! But it appears that I have not lost my talent. Oh wait, you can’t lose something of which you have in such abundance. Hahaha….
I made my first poached eggs ever!
And they were just perfect! With my favourite kinda yoke…
I made some okra for the first time too…
And some Aubergine and Mushroom Curry…
Been eating super healthy at home!
Han’s Lentils and Rice (top left) was soooo yummy and my first attempt at making chickpeas was not the easiest but I will remember what I learnt this time for the next time!
However, there’s been a lot of rain
But nothing that an authentic malasa dosai can’t fix!
This place really reminds me of home, I think I will like it here
